A Visual Guide to Moscow Tramways | << | >> |
A tramline from the already existed reversing loop in Tushino to Zakharkovo village was built in 1957-1958. As usual, the inauguration of service on this extension was dated for the Soviet official holiday, and it was started on November 6, 1958. The village inevitably became a highly developed area in a few years, and today this district is a typical residential zone with typical blocks. In two decades, a Metro line also came here, but the patronage on the tramline is surprisingly high at present time.

The end of Skhodnenskaya Street is not a highly visited place: the street crosses an industrial zone that does not show too much life today. The tramline turns left near the Western Bridge to Lodochnaya Street and follows the channel for a few hundred meters before crossing it at the Eastern Bridge, or Vostochniy Most in Russian. © Vadim Ievlev |

A level crossing of tramway tracks with a railway branch is one of the few such crossings in Moscow. This crossing is guarded with light signalling; the branch itself connects Tushino machine works with the main railway line. © Vadim Ievlev |

The place where Zakharkovo terminus once was is located at the crossing of Skhodnenskaya Street with Khimkinskiy Boulevard. The line has been extended further to the north-west since that time. © Vadim Ievlev |
