The streets that today make up the alignment of a tramline from the Timiryazev Academy to Mikhalkovo built in 1923 are named Mikhalkovskaya Street and Pryanishnikov Street. While the origin of the first name clearly refers to a former village Mikhalkovo, Pryanishnikov Street was named after the academician Dmitriy Pryanishnikov in 1948.

Mikhalkovskaya Street terminates at a railway overpass. Just before reaching the overpass, tram tracks turn left to Mikhalkovo terminus.

This photo displays once famous among Moscow tram fans 'Sobolevskiy triangle'. There has been no through tram service in Mikhalkovskaya Street for decades, and one branch of the once existed triangle junction was cut off during a scheduled track reconstruction. Nevertheless, the short sections of tracks of the cut-off branch were also relaid during the same works, making it a pretty strange view (partly seen in the left part of the photo). Sometimes this double-track section, not longer than 10-15 metres, was referred to as 'the third independent tram network of Moscow' - if you recall the layout of the Moscow tram network you can easily understand why. But a few years later the unused section would be finally lifted, and today this junction is a plain ordinary fork.

A tram on route 27 has just made a turn from Sobolevskiy Proyezd into Pryanishnikov Street. Meanwhile, a rubber-tyred mini-van is pretending to be a 'faster than tram' service.

Almost a year later, almost the same place. The high rise buildings continue their onset while decayed five-storey blocks retreat.
