Usti, located close to norther borderline was operator of one of the largest tramway networks here in Czech republic. Unfortunately, they were abandoned until 1970. Immediately there were planes to built few trolleybus routes, but they were not finished at this time.

After long period was urban transport serviced only with buses. Usti is very hilly, so large housing estates are very far from town. Finally, in mid of 80’s construction of new trolleybus network started here. On may 1988 first route Holomer-Stribrniky was opened with six trolleybuses Skoda 14Tr. However, these vehicles were relatively small for this city, so only articulated vehicles of 15Tr type were purchased later
In short period, trolleybuses were spreaded on whole city. New hilly routes to northern areas were opened first, expansion contiuned to western and eastern parts (Predlice, Krasne Brezno, Klise, Nestemice). Trolleybuses, however, are still not extended to southern parts of city (Strekov) accross the river. There are plans to build new route across the bridge to Strekov until 2001.

During relatively short period of time, trolleybuses were spreaded over whole city, except southern part. Today is here one of the largest trolleybuses networks in Czech Republic.
