Another 100.000 city located approx. 100 km in eastern direction from Praha played formerly important role in Czech public transport, because first public bus line was introduced here between Pardubice and Lazne Bohdanec in 1908. However, this line had no meaning to urban transport, so first „modern“ kind of urban transport was introduced here in 1952, when first line between Railway station and Rybitvi was opened. Even in 1952, this line was extended to Lazne Bohdanec too, so it becomes second interurban trolleybus line in Czech Republic.
For the opening new vehicles Skoda 7Tr were delivered, during few years also used Tatra T-86 trolleybuses from Praha were purchased too.
During few years, trolleybus lines to all main directions were opened. This progress was also seen in 60’s period, but last line was given into service in 1964 - for more than 20 years.
Trolleybus fleet was reneved with 9Tr vehicles since 1973. In the end of 70’s new line through Polabiny was finished, but was not given into service at this time. Transport policy was changed in mid of 80’s, when line through Polabiny was finished, and also new line Polabiny - Railway Station was introduced. In mid of 90's was trolleybus network fully renewed, but there were plans in 1995 to abandon (!) network completely. After protests, this decision was changed. For future, there is hope to extend network more, construction of new line to Dubina stared in September 1998.
Last of Skoda 9Tr were scrapped in 1994, so trolleybus fleet consists from 14Tr type exclusively.
