Trolleybuses in České Budějovice

There’s usually hard to explain Budejovice’s relation with trolleybuses. First line was given into service in 1909, but abandoned in 1914. For second time, trolleybuses were here during 1948-1971 period, but were abandoned too. In mid of 80’s, construction of new trolleybus line started here for third time and was opened in 1990, when new articulated trolleybuses of 15Tr type started to operate between main railway station and two estates Vltava and Sumava. Also, new modern depot in northern part of town was opened - it can hold up to 100 trolleybuses. un 1991 new north-south line No.2 was introduced, and some new 15Tr trolleybuses were delivered again. During mid of 90’s new lines to Suche Vrbne and Papirny were opened. In early 1998 new track through new bridge was opened too, because old bridge was reneved for year. After that period, new route remained in service, so trolleybus' network was extended again. Also, first low-floor non-articulated vehicles of Skoda 21Tr type were ordered. Delivery started in 1999 and until today there are 4 vehicles of this type.In 2000 was routing modified and network now looks like follows (see below)
There are still plans to extend trolleybus routes to Rudolfov and to other places, well as usual, this is financial problem
